The 300 mAh battery delivers up to 14 days of typical use under the manufacturer test profile.
Amazfit Active is a well judged midrange smartwatch for buyers who value a bright AMOLED screen, onboard GPS, broad health tracking, and long battery life more than the extensive third party app support of Wear OS.
Amazfit Active is a square GPS smartwatch from Zepp Health’s Amazfit portfolio, designed for the accessible midrange fitness watch market. The product combines a slim aluminum alloy case, a large AMOLED touch display, a physical side button, and a sensor suite centered on the BioTracker optical platform. It records outdoor activity through multi system satellite positioning and supports Bluetooth phone calls through its integrated microphone and speaker. Zepp OS 2.0 provides the operating environment, while the Zepp mobile application stores health trends, workout records, watch faces, device controls, and software updates. The model competes by delivering an unusually light chassis, an always on capable screen, extensive sport software, and multi day endurance without the frequent charging commonly associated with full smartwatch platforms.

📝 Amazfit Active Smartwatch with Health Monitoring Review
I regard Amazfit Active as a practical fitness smartwatch that avoids the weight, charging burden, and interface complexity of many full Wear OS products. Its large AMOLED display is genuinely useful for reading notifications, checking route data, and viewing workout metrics without making the case feel oversized. The combination of onboard GPS, 5 ATM water resistance, heart rate tracking, and structured training metrics gives regular runners, walkers, and gym users meaningful day to day value. Its strongest proposition is the pairing of claimed 14 day typical endurance with Bluetooth calling, which remains uncommon in a watch body of this size and weight. I would recommend it to users who want dependable activity tracking and smartwatch essentials, but who do not need a large catalog of phone class wrist applications.
📚 Technical Glossary
• AMOLED: Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode is a display technology in which individual pixels emit their own light. The technology produces deep black levels, high contrast, and efficient power use when the interface contains dark areas.
• PPG: Photoplethysmography is an optical measurement method that uses LEDs and photodiodes to detect changes in blood volume beneath the skin. The watch derives heart rate and related wellness metrics from this signal, so fit, skin contact, motion, and ambient conditions can affect results.
• HRV: Heart rate variability describes the variation in timing between consecutive heartbeats. Wellness algorithms use HRV as one input for stress, recovery, and readiness estimates, but the value is not equivalent to a clinical diagnosis.
• GNSS: Global Navigation Satellite System is the collective term for satellite constellations such as GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou, and QZSS. Access to several constellations can improve route acquisition and tracking in environments affected by buildings, terrain, or tree cover.
🆚 Comparison & Competition
Amazfit Active competes with light square fitness smartwatches in the same general price category rather than with expensive cellular flagship watches. Its principal technical strengths are the 1.75 inch AMOLED panel, five system GNSS support, low 24 g watch body weight, Bluetooth calling, and the claimed 14 day typical battery profile. Rival products may offer closer integration with a particular phone brand or a different software interface, but they often provide shorter endurance or less comprehensive workout analytics. Purchase decisions should therefore focus on phone ecosystem preference, GPS needs, calling requirements, and the importance of long intervals between charges.
• Rival 1: Huawei Watch Fit 3: Huawei’s comparable square watch provides a large AMOLED display, lightweight construction, GPS, and strong integration with Huawei Health. Amazfit Active emphasizes its 120 plus sport modes, Zepp Coach guidance, and Zepp application ecosystem, while Watch Fit 3 can be a stronger choice for users already committed to Huawei devices and health services.
• Rival 2: Redmi Watch 4: Redmi Watch 4 offers an aluminum case, a large AMOLED screen, built in GNSS, and long battery life at a similarly accessible or often lower price. Amazfit Active differentiates itself with Bluetooth calling, a more established Zepp health data environment, Smart Strength Training, and more detailed training load analysis, while Redmi emphasizes value and Xiaomi ecosystem integration.
💡 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
❓ QUESTION: Can Amazfit Active record a run without carrying a phone?
✅ ANSWER: Yes. The built in multi system GNSS receiver can record route, distance, pace, speed, duration, and related workout data independently. A phone is still required for synchronization with Zepp, firmware updates, route transfer, cloud services, sharing, and functions that depend on an internet connection.
❓ QUESTION: Is the watch appropriate for swimming?
✅ ANSWER: The 5 ATM water resistance rating is intended for pool swimming and ordinary shallow water exposure. It does not make the watch a diving instrument, and it should not be treated as suitable for high velocity water sports or deep water activity. Users should rinse the device after pool use and follow the specific local manual concerning button operation in water.
❓ QUESTION: Does Amazfit Active measure blood pressure or produce an ECG?
✅ ANSWER: No. The core health functions are optical heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen saturation estimation, stress analysis, and sleep tracking. The device is not designed to provide clinical blood pressure readings or electrocardiogram analysis, and its wellness metrics must not be used for self diagnosis or treatment decisions.
❓ QUESTION: What affects heart rate and GPS accuracy?
✅ ANSWER: For optical heart rate tracking, the strap should be snug but comfortable, the sensor window should be clean, and the watch should sit slightly above the wrist bone. Rapid arm movement, loose fit, cold skin, tattoos, sweat, and external light can reduce optical signal quality. For GPS, open sky, sufficient acquisition time before starting, and current satellite data improve results, whereas tall buildings, narrow valleys, dense forest, and severe weather can degrade the track.
❓ QUESTION: Can the watch make contactless payments?
✅ ANSWER: Contactless payment should not be assumed as a standard Amazfit Active feature. NFC hardware, wallet support, supported banks, and software availability vary by country and product version. A buyer should verify the exact regional retail specification before purchasing the watch for payment use.
